Blogging Your Adventures in a Faraway Land

Did you enjoy your family holidays to Turkey 2013? I'm definitely sure that you did, and now that you're home, you want to share them. You want to show your friends, family members, colleagues, and fellow travellers your tales and pictures. You wish to share to them your epic climb to Mt. Ararats summit, your exciting Istanbul city tour, the delicious exotic meal you had in a traditional Turkish restaurant, or your bargain hunt in the coastal town of Kusadi. And you want to share your experiences in your blog.

But how exactly? Remember that there are many other travel blogs in the Internet. You need to make your blog stand out. And here are great tips on how to make your travel blog as a favorite reference site for travellers worldwide.

1. Ensure that your blog is easy to read. Ensure that your font is simple and easy to read. Avoid using complex font such as Script and Forte and instead use simple Arial or Times New Roman. Having said that, don't use Script and Forte fonts because they are difficult to browse through. In the same way, do not use text that blends with the background color (for example, pink text on yellow background). Finally, note that a cluttered background only serves as a distraction.

2. Reduce design extras. Yes, you may like to customize your blog, but the extras such as widgets, interactive applications, monitoring applications, and other icons will only serve to distract readers. People visit your blog to read your posts. People dont visit your blog to know how great a designer you are. They want to know the story of your vacation: the sights you visited, the marvels you witnessed, and the experiences you've been through.

3. Post a lot of photos. Images are poignant, and your photos will definitely get the attention of your viewers. It will reveal to viewers how the Eifel Tower looks up close, the beauty of a sunset in Canada, the scenery as views from the top of Mt. Ararat, or how people ride Thai tuk-tuks. Using images, you can articulate your climbing, city tour, scuba diving, resort hopping, clubbing, etc. experience better than just mere words.

4. Provide interesting details. For example, you would like to write about your experience in eating out in an authentic Turkish restaurant. Don't just go for the "I came in, I ordered meals, food was delicious, I paid for the bill" post. Illustrate the appearance of the waiter. What about the dancer who performed in front of your table? Or perhaps you'd like to discuss about that tongue-burning sensation you felt as you took a bite of that sizzling peppered recipe? How about the red tapestries which adorned the place? Describe with your senses; doing so will make readers feel as if they were there with you.

5. Make your blog post useful. In every blog post, I typically include a schedule, a few tips, and a budget. For instance, returning home from Krabi, Thailand after a rock climbing trip, I post in details of a weekend itinerary; how much a traveler will spend for the fare, meals, leisure, and price for guideship services; who to contact as a guide, best season to visit, suggestions in managing your money, and other information. In this manner, your blog will become a traveller's resource rather than an ordinary blog.

Book online now, enjoy the cheap holidays for families of your dreams, and write about your wonderful time in your blog.
